Mt. Lemmon

Have you ever thought about trading in those dusty old hiking boots

, for an uncomfortable pair of those climbing shoes that look quite similar to ballet slippers? Probably not. Yet, while staying at a couple of hotels in Tucson over a period of three weeks, a fortunate event took place that would change my life.

While staying at these Arizona hotels, I had met many people from many different places, that were visiting Arizona for many different reasons: work, vacation, etc. Yet one particular evening I ran into an individual by the name of Bradley. I could tell Brad was not in Tucson for the normal reasons. I would only catch a glimpse of him late in the evening and he would look exhausted and dirty. What was he doing all day long to cause him to be in such a state? This went on for about three days, before I worked up the courage to approach him. He explained in detail, and it went something like this:

Brad had worked as a youth social worker for nearly 28 years, when his father passed away suddenly. Unknown to Brad, his father had been sitting on a small fortune that would be passed on to his only living son- Brad. There was two conditions upon accepting this money, Brad would have to cease to work the crazy hours that he had been known for and start to enjoy life to its fullest, and secondly, his father wanted Brad to climb Mount Lemmon; it should be noted that Mt. Lemmon is 9,157 feet above sea-level, and there are two options of getting to the top, the well travelled trails, or the steep cliffs.

This is why Brad was arriving so late in the evening exhausted, his first three attempts had proven unsuccessful. Yet on the fourth day, immediately following my inquiry, Brad conquered Mt. Lemmon.
