Toronto, Canada GAO Tek Inc. (www.GAOTek.com) is offering its Multi-function Handheld xDSL Tester which is designed to test and analyze VDSL2, ADSL, ADSL2 and ADSL2+ networks. The compact tester is an ideal tool for the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of any xDSL network.

This light weight handheld xDSL tester, model A0010004, accurately tests the physical, network and application layers at a high speed. It can be used in ATUR+PC emulation mode for testing without an additional ADSL2+/VDSL2 modem or computer. It is capable of Web browsing, Web rate measurement and FTP speed measurement. It confirms whether a line is suitable for xDSL services. Ethernet and cable tests can also be performed.

This tester also functions as a digital multi meter (DMM) to test loop resistance, insulation resistance, capacitance, AC-DC voltage and estimates wire length. It also has PPPoE dial-up function to obtain an IP address and conduct Ping tests including Ping loss test and Ping loopback latency test. The compact tester runs under Windows CE operating system and offers a graphical interface and a large memory capacity of up to 2000 ADSL test records. In addition, it is equipped with an auto-off function to save power, audio and LED status indicators, and a large true color LCD with touch panel.

This easy to operate xDSL tester belongs to GAOs family of ADSL Testers. This line also includes other similar testers that can fulfill different demands. They are Multi-function ADSL/ADSL2+ Tester which provides multiple test functions including upstream and downstream rate measurements, error counts, modem simulation and PING and Trace testing, Portable xDSL Tester which evaluates line quality, performs PPPoE dial-up, provides Web page browsing and emulates a PC+ Modem in order to test the connection to the ISP and Portable ADSL2+ Tester which is especially useful for installation and maintenance and is suitable for tier-1 ADSL applications.
