Mumbai, the City of Dreams, is one of the most developed metros of India
. An ancient city to have been inhabited since the stone ages, Mumbai was initially a cluster of 7 islands. It has a long and interesting history and was ruled by many dynasties and other colonial powers like the Portuguese and the British among others. However, much of the credit for the development of Mumbai into a great city goes to the British. Mumbai is geographically located along the western coastline of India.
On the other hand, Hyderabad is a land locked city, and is popularly called the city of Nizams (after the rulers who had ruled over the place for many years). Well known all over the world for its pearls, Hyderabad is also called the City of Pearls. Hyderabad serves as the capital of Andhra Pradesh and is also the hub of Bio technology and information technology sectors. It is also one of the better connected cities of the country.
An approximate distance of 707 km (by road) separates Mumbai and Hyderabad. Even so, travelling from Mumbai to Hyderabad is fairly easy as both the cities are well connected by means of road, rail and airways. The time taken to reach Hyderabad from Mumbai by road is around 11 hrs and 30 min.
Apart from this, the most common and comfortable means of travelling from Mumbai to Hyderabad is by train. However, it is to be noted that the trains to Hyderabad depart from 2 stations in Mumbai the Mumbai Cst (CSTM) and Lokmanyatilak T (LTT) and the trains from Mumbai arrive in Hyderabad at 2 stations the Hyderabad Deccan (HYB) and Secunderabad Jn (SC). Some of the popular trains that run through the route are Ltt Vskp Sup Exp (12750), Hyderabad Exp (17031), Konark Exp (11019), Devagiri Exp (17057) and the Husainsagar Exp (12701) among others.
However, the quickest means of travelling to Hyderabad to Mumbai is by air. There are several daily flights that connect both the cities at regular intervals. Jet Airways, JetLite, Kingfisher Red, Indigo, Air India and SpiceJet are some of the major airlines that operate flights to Hyderabad from Mumbai. It takes about 1 hour and 30 min to cover the distance by air. Though the airfare has reduced considerably in the past few years, it is still not very economical means of travel for common man.
There are numerous government (APSRTC) operated and private run bus services from Mumbai to Hyderabad. The ticket charges vary from INR 300 to INR 1100 depending upon the type of bus preferred.
Alternatively, hiring a cab is also a viable mode of travel to reach Hyderabad from Mumbai.
