Music Education For Parents: Benefits Of Going To A Kids Music School Rather Than Private Tuition

. Now let us talk about benefits of learning at a kids music school, where apart from individual tutoring, kids get choir, ensemble and orchestra.

Any music school that has more than 20 music teachers is quite a serious organization. They select the teachers through a rigorous process, for the reputation of the music school is at stake.

The year at a kids music school starts with planning the choir, ensemble, orchestra and other group activities for the year. History and music theory lessons follow and finally one-to-one lessons are scheduled.

Children get to meet new people and make new friends of all ages at the kids music school. Although sometimes it is essential to attend the school every day, it is quite an internally motivating thing for children. The company of friends and healthy competition is an invisible source of energy that continues throughout the schooling.

There is no doubt that a lot of private music teachers are also good. But the fact remains that you can't have choir, ensemble and orchestra with a single teacher. At most you can play a duet, but what about group activities! Only at a music school can you avail of such facilities that develop the harmonic ear. Moreover, the group activities at the kids music school help develop a sense of rhythm and tempo in the child.

Theory is also of vital importance so that the child can progress to complex lessons easily. Instruments like metronome, although not recommended, need to be learned at some point of time. Theory is something that can only be taught at a music school by specialist teachers.

Just like a math teacher at public school cannot teach anatomy in spite of the fact that he can read and write something about the subject, a music teacher specializing in one subject cannot teach other subjects effectively. If a music teacher offers you several subjects to choose from, like theory, voice, piano, guitar, etc., then you better beware that he cannot do justice to all of those subjects and he's not even qualified to teach more than one special subject.

If you need evidence, just ask the teacher for his Diploma. Although Canadians tend to take each other's word for anything, don't be so careless about your child's musical education.
