Always a popular destination for holidays in the Costa del Sol, Marbella is not only a top choice for sun-seekers, but also enhances its appeal by hosting some of the biggest events in southern Spain. Head to the holiday hotspot this summer to see world-class performers, tribute acts and traditional festivals in the Mediterranean.

Marbella is playing host to international sensations such as Seal and Faithless this summer, as well as staging festivals to draw music lovers of all genres. The city is expanding its musical breadth this year with the First European Jazz and Blues Festival, held at the spacious Marbella Football Club stadium, bringing some of the biggest stars in the jazz and blues scene to the sunny Spanish coast.

Even if jazz isn't your thing, you're sure to find something to appeal in Marbella's diverse summer schedule, including popular holiday favourites Bjorn Again, the world's leading ABBA tribute band. The group will be performing for the first time in Marbella on 18 August at the Plaza del Toros, and are expected to go down a storm with visiting Brits and other lovers of the 70s pop icons.

The Andalucia region's strong cultural heritage will also be proudly on display - from flamenco dancing to traditional Mediterranean cuisine - at events such as La Feria de Mlaga. Taking place from Friday 13 August, this popular festival of music, dance and culture is a celebration of Mlaga's Castilian past, and is not only a great chance for locals to catch up with cultural traditions, but also for visitors to see a side of the true Marbella during their trip.

With all these events catering for visitors of all backgrounds, Marbella's reputation as a holiday destination for the travelling elite is still going strong with the annual Concordia Charity Gala, a chance to spot celebrities and mix with the rich and famous at some of the city's most prestigious hotels. This year's event is celebrating with a Bollywood theme, which promises some colourful outfits and a cosmopolitan touch for your Marbella photos.

Potentially rivalling the Concordia Charity Gala is a new event launching in Marbella this year, the Starlite Gala. With celebrities such as Marbella's own Antonio Banderas and Eva Longoria expected to attend, this high class function at the Hotel Villa Padierna is bound to be the first of many to draw celeb-spotters to the Costa del Sol.
