I support Liverpool despite the fact that these days I live in Derby because I was
born and raised in the city and so have stayed loyal to my childhood team. I make the journey every other week fifty or so miles north-east from the Midlands to Derby to Anfield where I can enjoy the delightful skills of Kenny Dalglishs men as they take on the other teams in the Premiership. We have had a decent season so far thi s year, primarily due to the growing influences of Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll up front who have been feasting on the increased number of chances supplied by the midfield quartet of Charlie Adam, Stuart Downing, Jordan Henderson and Steven Gerrard. Dirk Kuyt has also been putting his usual high standard of workmanlike performances cutting in from the right wing and his eye for goal means that he always has the potential to be dangerous.
Whenever I am making the journey to Merseyside to watch my beloved Reds play then I always stay in one of the Liverpool city centre hotels as they provide excellent transport links to the stadium, which is located nearby. There is one hotel in particular that frequently has deals on offer through lastminute.coms Secret Hotel package, whereby you are able to stay in five star accommodation for cut-rate prices because the you book at the last minute and so the hotels are just filling up rooms that would otherwise be sitting empty its win-win. There are also hotels in Derby that offer this deal through the website and sometimes my wife and I take advantage of this fact if we want to stay over in the centre of town after going to the theatre and then having a late dinner due to the fact that we live on the outskirts of the city. It means we can both drink and then not have to worry about driving or otherwise having to catch a cab.
I am hoping that Liverpool are able to qualify for the Champions League next season by finishing fourth come May because European nights at Anfield are always electric and have resulted in some of my most treasured memories watching Dalglishs team. Weve already won the Carling Cup, but weve got a battle on our hands with Chelsea for fourth spot.
