The four places that are included in the Chardham Yatra are Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath. Gangotri is the mythological source of the River Ganges. Yamunotri is the source of River Yamuna and Kedarnath is the abode of Lord Shiva while Badrinath is the abode of Lord Vishna. The Chardham are nestled high up in the Himalayas in the state of Uttaranchal. Joshimath is one of the famous pilgrimage destinations for the Hindus. It is situated in the state of Uttarakhand. Adi Guru Shankaracharya established Joshimath. The two main temples present in this place are Nav Durga and Narsingh. Joshimath also serves as the base camp for trekking to the Valley of flowers.
