Must-bring Items On A Canadian Road Trip

Road trips are very popular in Canada

Road trips are very popular in Canada. They are the ultimate vacation experience, not just for foreign tourists but for locals as well. Canada has many winding mountain roads and coastal highways with beautiful scenery. The Trans-Canada Highway passes through all parts of the country, with views of everything from prairie wheat fields to charming villages whose buildings still reflect the architecture and culture of the previous centuries.

It is so easy to get caught up in the excitement of going on a road trip in Canada, but it is also important to properly prepare for it beforehand so that you can enjoy the trip to its fullest.

Here are some items that you should not forget to bring with you during long road trips:

1.Never leave without enough food and drinks! If you are going to drive around for more than a day, one or two five-gallon, plastic water bottles should be ideal. That should be enough depending of course on how many people are with you on the trip. As for snacks, dry foods such as chips, nuts, biscuits, and candies are the best. You do not have to bring along meal-type food like frozen cold cuts if you have plans to stay in a hotel. If you are going to camp out though, cold cuts and hotdogs will be great.

2.Remember not to forget your IDs, including at least one credit card and your healthcare card just in case you need medical attention halfway through your road trip. Foreigners should of course bring their passports, visas, and Super Visa insurance or other medical insurance.

3.A camera is of course a necessity on a road trip. Everyone will want to have a picture taken alongside the beautiful vistas you see on the way. That way, you can record all of the wonderful things you see, and chronicle all of the crazy antics of you and your road trip companions. Even after the trip is over, you can still revisit in your mind the places you saw and relive the fun memories.

4.You can bring other gadgets if you like, but avoid bringing your PSP or any other portable gaming device. These devices tend to be a distraction from the purpose of the trip: taking in the scenery, enjoying games and conversations with your traveling companions, stopping to explore points of interest, and so on. Besides, you can play video games when you are at home. An MP3 player would be useful though, because it can relieve boredom during downtimes, but not so much that it becomes a distraction.

5.If you are driving overnight with no plans on stopping at a hotel for the night, be sure to bring blankets, sleeping bags and pillows. You will need them if you decide to stop and take nap while driving between destinations.

6.Last but not least, make sure that you have a stocked medicine and first-aid kit. It is always best to be ready in case somebody gets sick or needs to have a wound patched up.
