My 2010 World Cup Song

Not long now and England start their 2010 World Cup Campaign in South Africa against the USA.

It's incredibly exciting, and England Fans have been fanatically creating 2010 World Cup Songs. Three Lions, the greatest ever England football song in my opinion has been reinvented, reworked and re-recorded by Robbie Williams, Russell Brand and a superstar line-up of friends.

Named 3 Lions 2010, an excited Robbie said of the single, "I've always been approached to write football songs but have always declined as I thought Three Lions could never be beaten so I am really happy to be part of this record. I am counting down the days until the start of the World Cup."

The song, originally a fan anthem during Euro 96 in England, certainly ticks all the right boxes: not only does it feature a certain Mr Williams, it also was recorded at the world-famous Abbey Road Studios, includes a full orchestra and choir and was produced by legendary Trevor Horn.

So not be outdone, I thought that I would see if I could come up with an England World Cup Song. Firstly I didn't want to attempt to create something that was totally new as I wanted the tune/music to be easily recognizable and catchy.

So staying true to English roots, I came across a 1972 Glam Rock number by TREX, I re-worked the lyrics and decided to book a recording session and on the 7th May 2010 created "England Its Your Time" by The Artist Formerly Known as Tel Boy.

My two four year old twin boys, who sometimes can be quite critical of me and my Mum think that my England World Cup song is brilliant!
