My Chiropractic Story

At the time I was young, single, and gung-ho as they say. I was working out at the gym doing squats which is an exercise where you set a bar of weight on your shoulders and squat down and stand back up. It is a great leg exercise. I had been doing this exercise for years but this one day out of nowhere my back poped and I dropped the weights and it was all I could do to stand back up and easily and carefully walk out of the gym.

My mother was a nurse so naturally I went to her for advice. She suggested that I see a chiropractor. At that time I had no idea what a chiropractor was and I had to ask where or who should I see. She suggested that I see the same local chiropractor that my grandmother was seeing.

Prior to my incident in the gym, it is worthy to note that I had suffered from some minor back pain for at least a couple of years but it only hurt if I bent over. I also suffered from a good case of constipation which was easily managed with the use of a daily fiber supplement. I assumed that the constipation was attributed to poor eating habits.

It was easy to see from the chiropractor's exrays of my spine that indeed I had what a lot of chiropractors call a subluxation; a misalignment of the spinal bones in my lower back. The chiropractor then began making adjustments to those bones. Within a week I started to experience a significant improvement inmy back pain and within a month's worth of adjustments my lower back felt better than it had in years. But I experienced another change that was completely unexpected. I was also cured of my constipation. I actually had to stop using the fiber supplement because my bowels began working perfectly again and I've never had constipation of any form since. It has now been over 20 years since my firstspinal adjustment.

Ican't imagine what my lifewould be like if it wasn't for chiropractic. I can only imagineif I had never been referred to a chiropractor what condition my spine and my health would be like. A medical doctor would likely haveprescibed medication for my back pain and my constipation and the side effects of those drugs after long usage could have been devastating. Instead, my back feels great, my bowels work great and I'm in excellent health.
