It is a bit hard for pragmatists to understand the current heat for split second chronograph(also referred to as rattrapante). It is true that a rattrapante pales before a digital watches when it comes to practicality. So pragmatists will never burn money for a rattrapante. However, the complexity and mystique held by a rattrapante attracts another group of people. They love to own chronograph of two seconds hands and have fun when play it.
A rattrapante is fitted with a small hand beneath the regular seconds hand and an additional pusher to operate it. Once the said pusher is activated, the hands stops and an be used to measure an additional minute's worth of time. And that is how a rattrapante works.
Swiss watch maker Corum has enriched the brand's famous Admiral's cup line with a new Split Second chronograph.Simply named Corum Admiral's Cup Black Split-Seconds 44 watch, the new Corum watch is sized at 44mm and mainly crafted from stainless steel. Two versions are available: the one with polished steel bezel and black-mid case/lugs is matched with a white dial, while the other featuring black PVD bezel and polished steel lugs /case sides has a black dial. Personally, I think these color schedules are successful. The dial layout is unmistakably a standard Admiral's Cup-classic and easy to read.
The Corum Admiral's Cup Black Split-Seconds 44 watch is the brand's in-house made Calibre CO986- a self-winding split-second chronograph movement. Completed the watch is a black rubber strap.
According to Corum watches, the version with white dial is limited to 155 pieces, while the black dial version is limited to 55 pieces.
