You wouldn't think to look at me now, but I had the skin someone could plot a star chart on! That is a very sad statement but it was very true. I was at the point in my life where I would not want to leave the house, socialise with my friends or go out to work. It's not a nice feeling when all you want to do is lock yourself away.
I would spend most of my days trawling the internet looking for skin care tips, beauty tips and secrets and so on. I found myself buying all kinds of different skin care books that would advertise different types of products. Don't get me wrong, most of the products I tried would work to a point, but only for a short period of time and after a month's treatment my skin would clear and i would think "GREAT". This warm feeling of joy would not last long, a few days later i would wake up to find yet another breakout on my face. More money wasted and on to the next product, wondering whether it would do more harm than good. After all how much abuse can our skin take from chemically created products that claim to be natural and only consist of 9% natural ingredients. "Always read the label".
A friend of mine suggested that I give the naturally claiming products a try for a longer period, after all they would not make these products unless they worked, "would they?". But again I found myself being a little sceptical after reading a recent study, estimating that the average woman wears 515 chemicals a day. That cant be good for your skin.
OK, it was time to give these products another go. Yes they worked but again only for a short period of time and those brief moments of joy that I felt will always be with me. I found myself socialising more going to parties and the occasional date. People were again looking at me differently, in a nice way. But through all that joy the inevitable was soon to be upon me. There it was, Saturday morning came it was a sunny day and when I looked in the mirror, there it wasOrion'sBelt on my face. "Stars on my face and Mt Etna ready to blow".
How much more can I take. The morning papers showing the latest models and celebrities with their perfect skin and amazingcomplexions, why can't I look like that? What are their secrets, who gives them their skin care and beauty tips? Do they have their very own home made skin care recipes?
On birthday last year, the day every girl waits for, or so you would think! The presents and all the attention being on you... I have to say I was not looking forward to it, people would want to see me, go out for a dance. All this seemed a little daunting, "what with Etna about to erupt". Well I did have a nice birthday in the end, lots of presents and got myself drunk, the usual. The next morning I remembered a friend of mine told me how she could not afford to get me a present this year, but instead wrapped up a book of hers that she thought I might like. I was a bitsurprisedat the book title and I have to say a little bit offended. At the same time I was intrigued at what it may contain."Best Kept Skin Care Secrets", as I said, I didn't know whether to be offended or thankful that my friend had thought of me in this way and was concerned, as she knew what I had being going through.
Without preaching too much this book really did give away a few secrets, some of its contents I was a little unsure of, I didn't know whether to believe it or not, but what did I have to loose! I felt like I had tried everything anyway.
"AMAZING", the results really blew my mind and I have never looked back.Yes I still get the odd spot every now and then, who doesn't, but what I learned from this book has really changed my life, Thank You to my friend Emma xx
