My Sister Wears Mouth Guards

It's hard to deal

It's hard to deal. Deal with my sister who always need my presence for everything she needs, that is. What's harder? She's all over the place. Sometimes, I have to talk to travel agents in Seattle because she broke up with a douche bag from Washington. There are times when I want to slap her butt for adding up to big sister's, me, stress.

I have always been like this to my little Sarah. She's a bit special. She has what we know as epilepsy. Sarah and I are not blood-related. We both came from different orphanages. The parents who gave us decent soups than those in orphanages were very nice people. Sarah was adopted three weeks before our foster parents took me in. Sometimes, Sarah would tell me she's the bigger sister since she was first "born" in the family.

Sarah's condition was not known until college. Three days before her college interview, she had a seizure attack. That's the reason why she only took online classes. I was in Forth Worth those times. I was working in a home-based business Dallas agency that day. Since then, she would always have frequent attacks.

We wanted her to not leave the house anymore. That worked for sometime. Of course, she wants to be free. Who does not? She found her defense in me. I convinced our parents to let her go. She always lives next to people who have access to ambulances and hospitals. That's the lamest excuse, I know. We wanted her to be free too.

She always has to wear mouth guards to prevent the danger of biting her tongue off when seizures occur. Some stupid people laugh at that thought. We knew people who laugh at Sarah's condition. They never really saw the harsh and unpredictable condition of Sarah. They are very harsh and impolite.

Sarah is a very beautiful lady. She had seven boyfriends since she moved out of the house four years ago. Her first heartbreak was because the guy refused to accept her condition. They were living together then. I had to do an online travel booking in Canada and book a flight at once to comfort her.

There was even a time when I was already in Dallas after a tiring business travel in Miami and she called me up to fly back to Florida. Apparently, she found out that her future fianc had a family and she is number two. I hurriedly called a travel agent in Miami and book a fly back there on the same day.

Oh dude, I'm such a nice sister.

Although I rant about this, I love her too much to not care. I know I will always be there for her even if I get tired of flying all over the country. I know, however, that I won't be tired of being there for her, because that's what family is all about. Besides, she always hook me up to her ex's brothers. Not a bad deal after all.
