Your setup: For your body to move as freely as possible you must make sure that you start in perfect balance. Your weight should always be in the middle of both your feet, both left to right and back to front. Try my three step routine to help your set up. Move your hips back, angle your spine towards the ball and keep you knees slightly flexed. You must also make sure your right side (left side for left handed golfers) and the ball is in direct line with the left side of your face (for your mid irons). Your takeaway: Multiple parts of your body should move in a particular order, club head - hands - arms - shoulders - hips. Your right arm (left arm for left handed golfers) should stay pretty close to your right side (left side for left handed golfers). So you must try not to snap away too quickly. And your hands pass your the right leg your weight should start slightly moving right. When the golf club reaches parallel to the ground (also parallel to the target line) that shows you are swing on the correct plane. The toe of the club should also be pointing to the sky. At the top: Through the swing your wrists were hinge half way from your takeaway and the top of your swing. Now you must just turn your shoulders to complete the backswing. At the very top of your swing your hips should have only turned about half of what your shoulders have turned. Your left arm (right arm for left handed golfers) should always stay strait but not tence. Your right hip, ankle and left thigh muscle should feel pretty stretched and ready to swing towards the target. Downswing: This begins with a very slight movement to the left knee and hip over the left foot. This movement immediately allows the the arms to drop. Now your belt buckle should be pointed at the ball while the shoulders are still slightly closed to the target. And always make sure that your head stays in the correct position. always resist the urge to swing from the top this will cause allot of problems. Impact: Your hips must continue to turn to a open so that the left hip has cleared by impact. Your chest will be less rotated, facing the ball at this point, which is a direct result of the hips pulling the shoulders. Your hands should always be ahead of the club head at impact with your left wrist flat and facing the target. The Finish: Your right side has now rotated past your left so that the right shoulder is the body part closest to the target at this point. the momentum of the swing has carries the hands behind the head, also your arms should be relaxed and folded at the top. Your trailing foot (right foot) should be up on its toes. All your weight should have transferred to your left side and your belt buckle should be point either at the target or just to the left. Your shoulders should always turn more than your hips which indicates a complete release and full body turn. Barry has been writing articles for many years now! With a very keen interest in the
