My Uncomfortable Experience about My Golf Cart

Before, I always walked to play golf on the golf course with my friends, and became fatigued after a few times. Never walking around the whole course is a little regret. But now I bought an electric golf cart, then I can enjoy my golf game without walking with my friends.

Last Sunday, I went together with my friends to play golf in a golf club where we often visit. We drove my golf cart around the course, with carrying our bags and clubs, from here to there. Once getting a goal, we jumped out of my cart, and were ready to perform perfectly. Because walking was not required, we conserved our energy to play close to our standard. Unfortunately, my golf cart was not working at all when we had planned to go home. I felt very embarrassed that I have no idea how to repair it. At this moment, I was very regret that I didn't know any golf cart knowledge. My friends looked at me as if I can solve this problem. I just smiled to them in this uncomfortable situation. Of course, this also meant that I don't know how to do. They seemed to get my thought, and then one of my friends started to check my cart.

He said, "The tires have no problem, and maybe it is the golf cart batteries' problem." So he took out of the batteries from the front seat where located six lead acid batteries. "Oh, my god!" he said. "You have to replace the batteries, because there are acid leakages outside. You must never check and maintain your golf cart batteries." Perplexed, I replied, "Yes, you are right. So you mean that my cart is not able to run all owing to the dead batteries?" He was very regret to tell me that my guess is right. Then he told me that I needed to maintain and check my golf cart batteries on a regular basis and charged them timely after every use. And he simply introduced how to check the batteries.

First, examine the battery terminals to see if they were securely connected and clean. Then use a battery tester to check the water level in the battery. If the water level was low, add some distilled water. Don't overfill it or it may hurt you.

Next check the outside case on the battery for signs that there may have been battery acid leaking onto the battery. The battery case cannot be fixed if you found acid leaks and you would have to replace the battery. You had to clean your golf car, if you found that the battery leaked into the golf cart and onto other parts. To clean up and neutralize the battery acid spill, mix a solution of a quart of warm tap water and a half of cup of baking soda. Finally use the solution on a soft cloth and clean the spill.

At last, we all pushed my golf cart back to home together. When reaching my home, we were very tired and tumbled into bed. This taught me a lesson that when I took care of my batteries, they will take care of me. So I replaced the dead batteries and maintain them on a regular basis according to my friend's solution. I never confronted this uncomfortable situation any longer after that.
