There is nothing that makes a woman feel more unfeminine than a smelly vagina, especially if it is accompanied by a discharge! Not only does the odor make you feel unclean but the discharge is also a source of irritation that quite often is as itchy as it is odorous. Actually, as unbelievable as it may sound, there are common everyday ingredients that you have lying around in your pantry that can probably treat the problem quite quickly with few or no side effects!
The first two home remedies that are often suggested (this will sound strange!) are garlic and yogurt. Both can be inserted into the vaginal tract and both are effective in reducing or eliminating the odor altogether. It has long been know that one of the leading causes of odor is a condition known as bacterial vaginosis which is the result of an overpopulation of bad bacteria and an underpopulation of the good stuff. Both garlic and yogurt are age old remedies as antibacterials and both have proven effective against foul vaginal odors.
Also, it is important to refrain from douching as this can tend to exacerbate the condition. If you feel that you really, really need to douche then don't use commercial products that have chemicals and fragrances that will make the condition worse. A solution of warm distilled water and white vinegar will restore the proper acidity to the vaginal tract and naturally eliminate the odor. Whatever you do, avoid any product that has fragrance as this will only make matters worse and BV will be all the more difficult to treat.
