What a lot of people are afraid is that if they use a stun gun on an attacker and this person grabs them, they will both feel the electrical shock. This is however not true and the current that goes through the body of the attacker does not bounce or transfer to anybody else.
Myth: A stun gun is an offensive weapon not a self-defense product.
In all honesty, anything that can produce pain or cause damage can be used as an offensive weapon. So that means that the main difference is the purpose of the objects in questions. A stun gun was designed as self-defense weapons and it is treated as such.
Myth: Stun guns are lethal devices!
A stun gun can produce up to 7 million volts and this does sound quite scary. But do you remember the old saying - Its not the volts that will kill you, its the amps? Stun guns are operated by small batteries that cannot produce a lethal electrical current and therefor they are perfectly safe and can only be used to repel an attacker and give you a chance to escape from a dangerous situation.
Are stun guns legal?

Myth: Stun guns are big and bulky.
A long time ago this statement would have been truth, but today it is totally false. Technology has advanced and many companies today are competing to create the perfect mini stun gun devices. The smallest stun guns on the market are no larger than a key-chain or a pen.
