NBA Power Rankings: Week 6
(1)San Antonio Spurs(17-3) forgettable loss to the Clippers, but who cares? They've won two straight after the fact, lead the league in 3-point shooting and have the best record in the NBA. In his first true starting role since the 2005-06 season, Manu Ginobili is averaging a career-best 20.6 points per game, a career-best five assists per game, and he's also shooting over 90 percent from the free-throw line and is second in the league in 3-pointers made (52), where to buy Discount NBA Jerseys? maybe ujersy is a good choice.
(3)Dallas Mavericks(16-4) nine wins in a row with Dirk Nowitzki playing some of the most confident and mature basketball of his career. He's shooting a career-best 55.3 percent from the field. And, it never hurts that Jason Kidd continues to work as one of the best floor generals in the game.
(5)Boston Celtics(16-4) the Celtics have won seven straight, all despite Rajon Rondo's on-again, off-again hamstring issues. Their first test in awhile is this Wednesday when they match up against the Denver Nuggets, who have also won their last seven games.
(10) Denver Nuggets(13-6) they had a softer schedule this week, but did what the needed to continue their stellar streak. They've won seven straight and are a league best 10-1 at home. They have a three-game road trip this week, which will be trying as they're only 3-5 in games outside of Denver.
(5)Utah Jazz(15-6) Dallas humbled the smooth Jazz on Friday. But aside from that loss, Utah has been on their grind. With Miami, Dallas and Orlando all this week, Deron Williams and company will have a chance to solidify their place amongst early Western Conference favorites.
(4) Orlando Magic(15-5) the Magic are sick. Literally. A strange case of the stomach flu passed through the Magic locker room last week. But not even influenza will stop the Magic. They're 8-2 in the last ten games and will most likely get Dwight Howard back in time for tonight's game against Atlanta. After that it's a four game West Coast trip.
(13) Miami Heat(13-8) LeBron James headed back to Cleveland this past week, which has been great news for the media and NBA, but for the Heat as team, nothing's more important than continuing their recent success and improving on the road. They embark on a four-game road trip, starting tonight in Milwaukee and are only 3-5 outside their own building.
(6) Los Angeles Lakers(14-6) a huge road trip lies ahead for the Lakers. After one last "home" game at Staples Center on Tuesday against the Wizards -- and a game against the Clippers in which they'll play as the visiting team on Wedensday -- the Lakers go on a six-game road trip. The next time they'll be back in L.A. won't be until Dec. 21. Considering what's ahead should help the Lakers forget their recent four-game losing streak.
(9)Atlanta Hawks(13-8) the Hawks still haven't won a real quality game this year. Their record is good enough for fifth in the East, but with the team's leading scorer Joe Johnson (17.1 ppg) expected to sit the next four to six weeks following an elbow operation, the Hawks will have their hands full. They get Orlando tonight and will also be challenged by the Spurs on Friday.
(13)Oklahoma City Thunder (14-7) the Thunder got Kevin Durant back for last night's win against Golden State. He had 28 points, which is right around his team-leading 27.4 ppg average, but he's currently in a 3-point funk. He's making only 1.4 3-pointers per 5.2 attempts (27 percent) per game. Better 3-point shooting (as a team they rank 26th in the league at 32 percent) and a fully-healthy Jeff Green (18.9 ppg and 6.6 rpg) should help the Thunder's continual move up the Western Conference totem pole.
(7) NewOrleansHornets (13-7) thefranchise for salehas gone 4-6 in their last ten games. While the NBA will assume ownership of the Hornets, it's hard to predict what impact, if any, this will have on the their playing. They've lost four of their last five, as Chris Paul continues to have a quiet season in the shadow of this year's top guards Deron Williams and Rajon Rondo. Don't count Paul or the Hornets out, though. A win on Wednesday against the Pistons would be a great way to start the week as the only ever NBA-owned team.
(14) New York Knicks (12-9) Mike D and Amar'e Stoudemire are back, this time in NYC, disguised as Knickerbockers. They've won nine of their last 10, seven straight on the road and, in the last four games, all of which are wins, Stoudemire has had at least 30 points and nine rebounds.
(11) Chicago Bulls (10-8) I've been so impressed with the scoring load Derrick Rose has assumed. He's the league's third leading scorer at 25.7 points per game and is averaging a career best 8.1 assists per game. (16) Phoenix Suns (11-9) they won all three of their games this past week with three different people stepping up. Jason Richardson's 25 points helped them take care of Golden State on Thursday; Channing Frye had a season-high 29 in a win against the Pacers on Friday; and finally, Hakim Warrick had 26 on Sunday in a win over Washington.
