When it was first announced that the NFL would host games overseas in London

, many people thought it would be a colossal failure. How many times has it happened that people have doubted the power of the NFL? Several football leagues have attempted to steal the spotlight, but they have all failed miserably. This is proof that when the best athletes on the planet play a sport and face-off against one another, it's going to attract attention.

For example, over 500,000 people requested tickets for the Chargers vs Saints game in Wembley in 2008. All the tickets in the house sold out within 30 minutes. It will be no different this time, when the Broncos play the 49'ers.

This is going to be an interesting game. The Broncos have one of the softest schedules in the league leading up to the Oct. 31 match-up in Wembley. If they want to have a shot at winning their division, they're going to need to win this game, but it won't be easy. The bad news is that the defense isn't what it used to be, and their best receiver from last season was sent packing due to insubordination.

he good news is that Kyle Orton is a winner. It doesn't matter who you put around this underrated QB, he's going to find a way to keep his team in the game. Add second-year running back Knowshon Moreno and WR Eddie Royal to the mix and they have a threatening offense. Moreno is a small and shifty back and Royal only weighs 180 lbs. In other words, durability might be an issue for these guys in the NFL.

The 49'ers will have one of the tougher schedules in the league leading up to the Wembley game, which will put more pressure on them to win. It's yet to be determined if Mike Singletary will make a great head coach in the NFL or not. Remember, great players don't make great coaches. But based on a strong defense a bruising RB in Frank Gore, and standout WR Michael Crabtree, experts have the 49'ers going deep into the playoffs. The biggest question mark for this team is the QB, Alex Smith.

s he for real or a pretender? He is wildly inconsistent from game to game. But it really shouldn't matter. With a strong defense and solid running game, the 49'ers might figure out their best approach by Oct. 31.

This year's game in Wembley should be a good one. The winner will improve their shot at the playoffs and the loser will embarrass themselves in front of the rest of the world.
