NSW has beaten Queensland!

In NSW greenhouse gas emissions fell 5 million tonnes in 2010 (compared with 2009)- the highest reduction of pollution of any state and territory in Australia.

Why? Because people in that state required less coal-generated electricity and embraced solar energy panels (and other sources of clean energy) faster then Queenslander's did.

Climate Group's spokesperson Rupert Posner agrees. He says lower emission results mean decreased pollution due to more electricity generated from renewable energy sources- like solar energy panels.

According to the Climate Group's annual report this trend towards solar energy panels is Australia wide; collectively Australian's have produced less carbon in 2010 than 2009 and less in 2009 than in 2008.

As Australian's we should be proud of how many people continue to sign up to use solar energy panels- saving money and natural resources, hints the report.

Turn off electrical appliances at the wall as they continue to use electricity when in standby mode. Turning TV's, VCR's, DVD's, and stereos off at the power point can reduce your home's greenhouse gas emissions by up to 150 kilograms a year.
