It's also important not to touch other infected nails. If you have a toenail fungus that you're treating, your fingernails can easily become infected if you touch your toenails with your hands. When applying topical treatments to your toenails, try wearing gloves to protect your hands. You really don't want to touch your toenails and run the risk of spreading the fungal infection to your fingernails. It takes a little extra effort to apply the treatment with gloves on, and you may feel silly taking this precaution, but you'll be thankful you did it in the long run. Nail fungus prevention is totally worth it, if you consider the inconvenience and embarrassment of suffering a fungal fingernail infection.

And if you want to make sure that you keep your nails healthy and fungus-free, examine your fingernails regularly for signs of infection.
