Most of us know how important sleep is to our general health and well being
. But its a fact that alot of us don't actually get enough sleep and in one way or another suffer for it during our waking hours. Sleep deprivation can manifest itself in many ways, I'm sure we have all felt that groggy and fatigued feeling that seems to follow us around all day. A great way to help counteract this feeling is by taking a short nap sometime during the day. More and more people are trying this and have discovered the benefit of taking a short nap break for say twenty minutes part way through their day to recharge their batteries
The benefits of a nap are many and include -
1. Increases your alertness
Studies have shown that a one hundred percent increase in alertness can result from a short nap, that has got to be good from a productivity point of view no matter what line of work you are in.
2. Improves your mood
Tiredness causes a feeling of grogginess and irratibility, a nap can help reverse those feelings. All our relationships would improve on a daily basis if we were consistently in a better mood.
3. Improves your stamina
A short nap refreshes your whole mind and body and gets you ready for the remaining part of the day almost as though you were waking upto a new day. Literally a nap can recharge those batteries and give you more get up and go.
4. Helps you keep younger looking
Fatigue from lack of sleep can cause you to look and feel prematurely aged over time. Whilst you are sleeping your body goes into a maintenance phase and a nap will aid skin and tissue regeneration which will help keep you looking younger.
5. Helps You Make Better Decisions
All through our waking day we are making some decision or other. Our judgement in these decisions can be impaired if we are feeling fatigued and tired. A quick nap will have you feeling refreshed in no time with the result being a marked improvement in our ability to make good decisions.
There are many benefits for taking a nap during the day, so what are you waiting for next time you are feeling groggy set aside 20 minutes during lunch or after work and take a nap. See for yourself how much better you feel afterwards, you will approach the rest of you day with increased energy and vitality.
