Nationalized Healthcare- Does It Work?

Nationalized Health Care is a concept that is just being introduced to citizens of

the United States; however, America is the only country in which health insurance is a "business". All other countries, at least the developed ones have a health care system that is put in place by the government and covers everyone equally.

There are mixed feelings about the level of care that people are experiencing under Nationalized Health Care systems around the world. While most feel that the system allows everyone to receive equal care from medical professionals they also sight long wait times to see doctors and a lower level of care and personalized service. They feel more like cattle being herded then like individual patients.

The debate continues to rage on in the U.S. where some feel that this is the only way to ensure that everyone receives the medical attention they need and others feel that they should not be the ones to shoulder the financial burden of the health care system for all. It is a legitimate concern since the government is looking for a way to fund this system and they are looking toward the wealthy to pay the most into it.

A trade off in fact, while this Nationalized U.S. Health Care System will bring care to everyone it will more than likely do so in a decreased fashion providing only minimal care to all. The way the plan is written all citizens will be required to pay their designated portion of these health care costs and be part of the plan. There is really no choice allotted to those who wish to opt out of the plan and maintain their current insurance plan and premiums associated with it.

It is a difficult debate. Everyone needs and deserves to have health care coverage but at what cost? It is impossible at this point to predict the effects of these decisions on the future of health care in the United States. Only time will tell how the Health Care Reform package will affect the future of the nation.
