Natural Bedding Options

There have been a number of concerns raised about the safety of mattresses in the last decade.
New laws have required that all mattresses meet specific requirements in regards to fire safety, meaning that certain chemicals are added to mattresses to retard fires. These chemicals include borax, a known rodent and insect killer. Knowing that chemical is permeating through the mattress doesn't necessarily make for a sound sleep.
Chemical mattresses such as memory foam have become increasingly popular on the market, but many people have reacted adversely to the off gassing odour of such mattresses. These mattresses are 100% man-made chemicals and while their health benefits are known, alleviating chronic back problems and offering comfort to bedridden patients, are they really that healthy for everyday use?
It's hard to sleep soundly when the chemicals that are supposed to add to our safely and comfort may indeed be making us sicker.
There are natural bedding options available which cater to sleepers sensitive to chemical beds.
Pure latex beds are derived from naturally extracted and processed rubber. They demonstrate a similar personality to memory foam in that they mould to the shape of your body. They give where pressure is applied and offer support where required.
Wool and cotton mattresses have been around for some time. While the futon style mattress is the main style of bed people think of in this category there are other, softer options available in today's market.
By combining latex with cotton and wool, these natural mattresses have arrived at a new level of sophistication. These beds can match most inner spring and memory foam mattresses for style and comfort.
There are basically two options available for wool, cotton and latex mattresses those that are 100% organically grown and produced and those processed with chemicals. If you are unsure ask the manufacturer if chemicals have been added.
Natural, 100% organic mattresses are generally more expensive but as mattresses are a long term purchase that has daily repercussions, the extra outlay is a wise investment.
