Natural Black Soap

Origin and history

The soap has been said to have originated in West Africa, its local name is Alata Samina. This is simply a combination of essential oils, husk, palm oil, plantain skins and coconut. The soap has been in used for a long time now; it is highly effective in the relief of defects of the skin as well as for general daily hygiene. The soap has become a worldwide product now with a good number of its users being outside the continent.

The natural Black Soap has a brown-black color and is very soft in texture. The soap is natural and has no artificial scent, the scent being earthy. Recent studies have shown that this is the only soap that doesnt need lye but produces lather more than all other soap that does not contain laurel sulfate.

The black soap should not be completely black in color, indeed it should have some aspects of brown color, otherwise, it is fake. Some people dye the soap black and claim that it is originally black. The fake soap has a hard feel while the real black soap has a smooth feel which is the main distinguishing feature that you should be on the look out for. On the other hand, the fake one contains just a few of the natural ingredients and may cause stains on your clothes.

The Black soap may be purchased either in liquid or solid form. The time taken in roasting is directly proportional to the intensity of the black color; some producers add some scent although the natural soap does not have the scent.
