The natural essential oil is a hydrophobic liquid which contains volatile aromatic

compounds extracted from trees, plants, flowers, shrubs, roots, bushes, seeds, and even from the husk of certain fruits. These are also termed as volatile oils, aetherolea oil or the oil prefix with the plant name from which they were extracted, such as Ajwain, sandalwood etc. These cannot be prepared at home as they are extracted from aromatic plants by a process of steam distillation and solvent extraction, but prior to the discovery of distillation, extraction is done by pressing.
