Natural Fertility Methods vs. Artificial Fertility Methods
Infertility is a condition wherein a man or a woman lacks the ability to conceive. The condition is detected when couple has unprotected sexual contacts for 6 months to a year, but fails to conceive a child. Sometimes the man is the cause of the problem, usually because of a low sperm quality or count, but most of the time it's the woman, because of many probable causes that can bring about infertility. There's endometriosis, lack of ovulation, problems with the fallopian tube or uterus, hormonal imbalances, and a few more others. There are times infertility happens because of unknown causes, although tests have been done, no reason is detected with both partners. Whatever the roots of the problems with fertility, science and technology has the solution. However, fertility drugs and treatment are not the only choice at present, there is an alternative option, most attractive to those couples who cannot afford such an expensive treatment like In Vitro Fertilization or IVF, and they are called natural fertility methods.
Artificial fertility methods are those that are assisted by synthetic drugs and tools to bring about pregnancy. The technical term used is Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) methods. These methods consist of Zygote Intra-Fallopian Transfer (ZIFT), also known as Tubal Embryo Transfer, Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), Frozen Embryo Transfer (FET), Gamete Intra-Fallopian Transfer (GIFT), but the most common would be IVF, Artificial Insemination, and Surrogacy. Surrogacy is usually done when the woman's uterus is not viable to carry a child, but can still produce eggs. This type is called Gestational Surrogacy, when an embryo (from the infertile couple) is placed inside a woman's womb, and she carries the child for nine months. A Traditional Surrogacy is when the woman cannot get pregnant, so her husband's sperm is inseminated in another woman's uterus. The surrogate is still the baby's biological mother. IVF on the other hand, is done when a couple cannot conceive a child on their own. Eggs will be harvested from a woman's body, fertilized by the sperm outside, and then the zygote (fertilized egg) is positioned again in the woman's uterus, hoping for pregnancy to happen. Artificial Insemination is typically done when the infertile partner is the male. The donor sperm is placed inside the woman's uterus for her to get pregnant.
Although the artificial methods I mentioned seemed to be effective because of their official' terms, we can't let go of the fact that they have side effects, and that they are extremely high priced. Not to mention that they are not 100% effective. IVF treatments need to be done several times in most patients, before it will be successful. For couples who are looking for other options, natural fertility methods are the answers to your prayers. Some of these natural methods may be the natural infertility cure for you, and they include Ovulation monitoring, acupuncture, herbal medicines, diet and lifestyle alteration, and a few more others. The Chinese form of medicine, acupuncture, is so effective that IVF patients are asked by some doctors to go to an acupuncture clinic to assist the procedure.
