Natural stone is a solid structure of minerals. The formation of a stone is the same as earth because the same liquid and gas minerals have formed the stone and the earth both. Substantial body of gasses and liquid minerals slowly-slowly cooled and converted into a solid stone. It took around one-hundred million years to form these natural stones. They come in different hardness, crystal formations, colors, shapes and sizes.
Thousands of types of natural stones have been dug-out through the centuries. Sometimes it becomes very difficult to recognize them. Major suppliers of natural stone are India, Italy, United States, Spain, Turkey, China, Taiwan, Mexico, Greece, France, Canada, and Brazil.
Limestone: Limestone is a natural, sedimentary stone that is formed from the ruins of tiny shells and micro-skeleton set down on the sub aquatic. Limestone is formed when calcium carbonate reacts with diluted hydrochloric acid. Limestone comes out in layers (bedding planes) that contain vertical cracks called joints. This is available in many different colors like; white, yellow, green, pink, cream, black, rust, brown, or any other. Limestone is used in construction, building materials, manufacturing cement, animal feed, printing plates and other industrial processes.
Sandstone: Sandstone is another natural stone made from sedimentary particles clasts, pieces of minerals and fragments of rock. Sandstone has two different kinds of material in it besides the sediment particles: matrix and cement. Sandstone is formed on those places where sand is put down down and buried like; dunes, beaches and seafloors. Sandstone is mostly quartz. This is available in reddish-brown, red, white, yellowish, or grayish colors. Sandstone is used in landscaping, building, interior and exterior decoration.
Soapstone: Soapstone is a metamorphic rock. It is rich in magnesium because it is largely composed of the mineral talc. It has been a medium for carving for thousands of years. It gives a feeling of soap when touched, so it is called "soap stone". Soapstone has also been used for tools, carafes, goblets, vases, sculptures, fireplaces, etc.
Fossilstone: FossilStone is sea floor that has been converted into fossil. It is composed of a hard, black limestone base with a variety of light-colored fossil shells. The stone is sometimes enriched by fossils of tiny animals. It is easy to cut and work with these very cool stones because of this quality fossil stone is perfect for creating conspicuous paving for pedestrian and driveway traffic when correctly installed. They are also used in flooring, columns, furniture & more.
Travertine: This is from the limestone family. It is formed of calcium and often forms near hot cheerful mineral rich springs. Travertine stone is soft, delicate, relaxed and soothing. It has been frequently used since the ancient times as a building material. It is used in architecture, interior walls, mosaic tiles, sinks, statuary, fireplace surrounds, floors, tub surrounds, vanities and end tables.
Marble: Marble is a metamorphic rock composed of fairly pure a crystalline form of calcium carbonate. When limestone is heated and with pressure, its calcite gets dissolved and larger crystals are formed that is called marble. Pure white marble is the result of metamorphism of very pure limestone. This natural stone is used in art, architecture, garden paving, sculpture and building material. A High quality marble is typically very costly.
Marble is available in these colors: black, gray, pink, green, and in different combinations of these colors.
Slate: Slate is a striking and unique natural stone that is formed through the metamorphism of shale. The word slate is resultant from the late Middle English slat or sclate. It's splendid, strong, and durable. Slate can be split into slabs and further into thin sheets. Slate is used in buildings, roofs, interior and exterior flooring, stairs, patios, walkways, sharpening knives, tabletops, etc.
Serpentine: Serpentine is a group of minerals that includes chrysotile asbestos. This is a type of metamorphosed sedimentary rock derived from low-temperature alteration of the minerals in ultramafic rocks. This is from the family of silicate minerals rich in magnesium and water. Serpentine is used in railway ballasts, building materials and the asbestiform types such as thermal and electrical insulation.
Granite: Granite is a group of intrusive felsic igneous rocks those are formed at great depths and pressures under continents. Granite is a crystalline rock, which is harder than marble with large mineral particles. This is used in buildings, bridges, paving, monuments, tiles, slabs, floors, stair treads and many other exterior projects.
