Natural Supplements For A Long And Healthy Life

As most of us grow older health issues usually surface. Health issues that as a youth we don't take the precautions to either reduce the risk of them occurring or just don't care to think about it. High cholesterol, heart disease, arthritis, and diabetes to some of you seem to be health concerns for others, but the fact is we are all at risk. Some believe these health issues to be hereditary, something that we are born with. Others believe this that this is simply a sign of aging and that it is evitable that our bodies will break down and then there are some who think that there are other forces at work.

Let's look at these possible reasons to determine if they are in fact plausible. Having these diseases are not hereditary, that is usually the first area looked at when health issues occurs. How many times have you went to the doctor's office and had to try to explain your family's health history? How many times have you been told that because Uncle Bob had high cholesterol that you are at risk as well? When you were younger did you ever think that you were at risk of contracting heart disease, high cholesterol? Did you ever consider the fact that a stroke does not pre-select a family or individual? Do you think that it just the luck of the draw? No, good health starts with you. It is not always in the genes. From my own personal experience, it was determined that my cholesterol level was high and need to be addressed. I remembered watching my father die of a heart attack at age 63. My father was diabetic, and had cholesterol issues which led to his heart attack. When he was diagnosed, he was in his late fifties and continued to live his life as he did before because he felt that at that late date in his life it didn't matter. His brothers, and my father had four of them, did not live pass the age of 64 for various reasons! Two died from cancer, one due to complications from a stroke, and the other due to complications from diabetes. Does that mean that when I turn 60 I should resign myself to the fact that I only have a few years left to live? No, it does not have to be that way. My father and his brothers spent their youth living life in the fast lane, they smoked and drink among other things. They never watched what they ate and exercise was just as foreign to them as the country of Guatemala. When I examine my family history, I look at what they didn't do to stay healthy, not what they did to have their bodies fail them just short of retirement age. Again, I decided that I will not go out that way and took measures to assure that I won't. The choice is ours to make, it does not come from our relatives.

As you age you feel its effects, your joints stiffen, your bones become more brittle and your skin wrinkles it is evitable. The aging process does bring with it health issues but what are you doing to prevent them. Heart disease for example is not something that just happens because we get older. There are several factors that have to happen within your body before your heart can begin to have problems. You have to watch your cholesterol levels, you have to watch your diet and exercise, and you have to maintain healthy blood vessels to keep the blood flowing to and from the heart. No matter your age, by not doing this will put you at risk of heart disease or even stroke. The choice is yours to make and the sooner you make it the sooner you can lead a long and healthy life.

If it is not hereditary and it is simply not a side effect of aging then what other reasons are there for developing these conditions? Biochemists for years now have studied the effect that "free radicals" have on the body. Free radicals are oxidants, which are unstable molecules that can attack the body's cells. Damaging a cell membrane can alter functions like bringing in nutrients, oxygen and water, or expelling wastes. Eventually, free radical damage can kill the cell. Free radicals can be produced by trauma, injury, sunlight, pollution, exposure to toxins, alcohol and cigarette consumption, and some foods. They are also a byproduct of many of the body's natural processes. Scientist believes that free radicals are at the common cause of most diseases and disorders. They also believe that there is a way to combat these free radicals preventing them from taking their natural course which leads to one of many health problems. You noted in the definition that free radicals are an oxidant. Antioxidants which is derived from natural nutrients are use to counteract the effects of free radicals but antioxidants is by no means a cure and is considered an alternate natural form of treatment for certain cases. The choice to consider this alternative is yours.

What does all of that mean; it means that you can make the choice to not give the attention your body needs to stay healthy and point to hereditary causes or aging when health issues arise. Or you can look at what you need to do to circumvent the onset of these diseases or disorders. But making the choice does not mean taking prescription medications remember these medications are chemical based and you are consuming toxins designed to manage your condition but will have side effects on your body. But understand that there are natural supplements which are used as an alternative. However there is no substitute for diet and exercise, which along with natural supplements, you can put yourself on the path to a long and healthy life. That's the choice I made, and you should make that choice and make it now.
