Each team in the NBA plays 82 games over eight months

. There are 1,230 regular season games. Thats a long season and it creates a lot of wear and tear on even the heartiest and healthiest of players. In order to stay at the top of your game, you have to stay current on all of the happenings, both on and off court, that will influence the output of the players on your team.

Here are seven tips that you can use throughout the season to help make you and your team a winner.

1)After your draft, continue to monitor developments in the league and check on player availability. Compare your roster to those of the other owners in your league. Analyze each of your choices, including your all-important bench.

2)Understand matchups within your league and how they may affect your players. In order to utilize this knowledge, youll have to understand the game itself. Become a student of the game.

3)Situations change daily in the NBA and you do not want to be the last one to know about a trade, an off-court incident or an injury that may affect one of your players. Keep up on the news.

4)If you have a hankering to trade, then try to do so. Never think of your team as a static entity. It is a malleable force and you have to treat it as such. In putting a trade together, be sure to make it attractive to the other owner. However dont give away too much.

5)As the season progresses try to find that diamond in the rough who was under everyones radar. He could be a difference-maker for you.

6)Watch for players who may be breaking down as the season goes on. Diminished playing time, a decrease in numbers or an inability to run the court are all indicators that a guy may be in trouble.

7)Finally, monitor all games as closely as possible. That includes an analysis of daily player performances. The ins-and-out of each game will ultimately determine your success.

Fantasy leagues are competitive. Thats great. You need to enjoy the competition. But be sure that youre having fun throughout the season. If your NBA fantasy league feels more like work than play, then you need to readjust your attitude.
