Nba Tickets - Top Five Fantasy Shooting Guards
Here is how I would rank the top shooting guards for fantasy basketball as we head into training camp for the 2010-11 NBA season:
1. Dwyane Wade, Miami Heat: As with LeBron James, it's difficult to project Wade's role on this new-look Miami Heat team, but I think there's a good chance that they are still Wade's squad. Wade has been a member of the Heat his entire career and is probably the best pure scorer on the team, which should make him the go-to guy. Wade is a fantasy monster and I think he could end up having his best fantasy performance this year. With James and Chris Bosh around to distract defenders, Wade could have a field day getting to the rack and drawing contact. His percentages could spike, though his usage will probably decrease. Still, I consider him the elite option at his position, though he could be eligible at point guard as well.
2. Kobe Bryant, Los Angeles Lakers: He's showing signs of slowing down a bit, but Kobe is still one of the best players in the game, both in reality and in fantasy. He fills up the stat sheet with his versatile offensive game and shoots very good percentages in the process. I think we could see his assists increase as his scoring inevitably decreases as he gets older. However, it's hard to predict just how much of a physical regression he'll experience this year.
3. Brandon Roy, Portland Trail Blazers: The key with Roy is his ability to stay healthy, or lack thereof. Roy is a fantasy beast when he's healthy, as you just don't get his combination of scoring, rebounding and assists from many players in the league. He's the main option in the Portland offense and spends a lot of time with the ball in his hands, but I think LaMarcus Aldridge could be on his way to stealing the title of focal point. Either way, Roy will be a great option when healthy, but he hasn't been able to stay on the floor as of late.
4. Joe Johnson, Atlanta Hawks: Johnson was the highest-paid free agent of the 2010 summer, but that doesn't mean he's a better player than Wade or James. Still, he's a great option for fantasy because he's such a good all-around player. He's a dead-eye shooter and racks up assists and rebounds with regularity. He might have his shortcomings in reality, but in fantasy he's a fantastic option and one could rationalize taking him over Roy due to injury concerns.
5. Manu Ginobili, San Antonio Spurs: Ginobili might not sell as many NBA tickets as the other players on this list, but he was one of the best fantasy players over the second half of the season in 2009-10. He'll probably go back to coming off the bench this season, but he still produces at a high level in pretty much every category when doing so. He'll be just one injury away from becoming a major producer again.
