Ncaa Football Tickets - Teams Looking To Bounce Back
A college football team that fails to meet pre-season hype not only disappoints fans
, it may also find it more difficult to get the next wave of talent to their program. Being out of the running for some of the best high school grads can make it even harder to shake off the smell of a sorry record. Sometimes, even reaching the heights of football success can breed disappointment. Prime examples are Alabama and LSU. They fought last season for the NCAA championship; anything less than that this season is going to disappoint devoted fans. Both teams are coming into the 2012 season with "Number 1" seen as a distinct possibility. Fans holding NCAA football tickets can see up close and personal how they do or don't prevail.
There are some other SEC teams looking to overcome last season's disappointing outcome. Tennessee and Florida haven't done much lately to gain fan approval. Another lackluster season would only provide more fodder for critics of those programs. Arkansas hosts both LSU and Alabama in 2012. That could go a long way towards erasing the stigma created by fired coach Bobby Petrino's personal problems. Alabama visits Fayetteville early in the season. A win puts Arkansas atop the SEC charts.
Florida State, meanwhile, came into last season ranked number five. That ranking quickly dropped as the Seminoles played themselves out of any BCS bowl game. Injuries played a key role in Florida State's lackluster performance last year. Fans hope a healthy team will once again take a seat among football's elite.
Another team to watch out for is Texas A&M. Texas A&M transfer from the Big 12 to the SEC this year. That's great, except the Aggies finished last year with especially ugly performances. And that came after some pre-season polls had Texas A&M ranked in the top ten. Without a solid resuscitation, the Aggies could find themselves lucky to achieve the mediocre 6-6 record of last year.
Oregon's Ducks did lose their first game of the season to LSU, though they still had a very good overall season. Despite the disappointing late-season loss, that did little to dissuade fans that Oregon could be in the BCS title game. Then the Ducks couldn't get past USC, and that pretty much eliminated any plans Oregon had for a national championship game, though a talented roster should have them right back in the mix.
As teams continue to shift conferences, Nebraska bolted from the Big 12 to become a member of a lesser ranked conference. The Cornhuskers figured to run over Big Ten opponents on the way to national prominence last season. But quarterback inconsistency played a big role in Nebraska's inability to rise to the occasion, and they ended up on the outside looking in. Fans this year will count on quarterback Taylor Martinez to play with more poise, and be less inclined to turn over the ball.
The biggest disappointment of the year rests at Norman, Oklahoma. The Sooners were a safe pick by many to run the table and take home a championship, though that obviously didn't happen. Catastrophic losses to Texas Tech, Oklahoma State and Baylor put a sorry end to what began as a great season. Injuries to key players didn't help.
