Need More Customer Building Techniques? Here's a Strategy For Gathering Testimonials You Can't Miss
What if there were a highly effective, inexpensive and easy-to-implement customer building strategy that you could use in your business - online or offline - to earn new business, get more referrals, and even get more business from your existing clients?
There is! And you can do it!
Are you ready to find out what this customer building strategy is?
It's -- TESTIMONIALS!
Testimonials are an incredibly powerful tool for building up your customer base because they utilize the power of "social proof." Social phsychology shows us that when people are doing something new or trying to make a decision, they very often look to what other people are doing to help them decide if they're making the right choice.
If you're a small business owner, you've probably seen testimonials used extensively, but never had a clear concept of how you could utilize this concept yourself.
Here are some great strategies for getting your clients to give you testimonials. These will work for any business online, or off. They are especially effective in markets where you don't necessarily already have a lot of competition using testimonials in their marketing. If there are a lot of testimonials being used in your industry, make yours more believable or more exciting with better scripts, more excitement, or a more interactive format (e.g. audio or video testimonials, not just written ones.
1) Have a "testimonial gathering" mechanism that is in place systematically, for example, after their dental cleaning have them step into a video room (if they are willing) and talk about their experiences with Dr. Smiley.
2) As automatic as a reminder call before a client's appointment, have a receptionist call after the appointment and with the client's permission record an interview getting feedback about the service. This is especially good because it can give you information about how to make your service better, and the receptionist can coach the prospect to get the right energy and focus on areas of the serviec you want to emphasize!
3) Sponsor essay contests, video submission contests, etc. with prizes and in-depth interviews of the winners. You'll find people who have great stories about using your products and services and you'll build customer loyalty. Studies show that when someone goes on record endorsing your product, they are more likely to like and use the product in the future.
4) Use your own case files and records to assemble a testimonial with before and after pictures, statistics, and stories. Then get the owner to sign off and allow you to use their story in print!
Using testimonials in your marketing, on your website and in your customer waiting area is a great way to make new and prospective clients aware of the power of your service to meet their needs.
It's easy to dismiss what YOU say, because you're selling your own product. Prospects tend to put a lot more weight on third party endorsements of your products and services - so make sure you get some.
Make gathering and displaying testimonials an important part of your customer building strategy!
