Need to Clean Your Shower Soap Dispenser?

Just like anything else that gets daily use (especially something that is used to clean a household of people on a regular basis), your family's shower soap dispenser will eventually need a good cleaning. And while using a shower soap dispenser cuts down on the mess compared to traditional bar soap or bottles of body wash and shampoo, this is still a gadget covered in soap and therefore, sooner or later, a buildup of soap scum. Because this is a newer household gadget, many have no idea how to go about cleaning their bathroom soap dispenser. While a lot of the soap scum on the outside can be wiped or scrubbed away, sometimes there can still be an oily residue left behind or a layer of soap scum on the inside of the dispenser. Cleaning your shower soap dispenser requires a bit more work than wiping off a scummy soap dish with a warm, wet rag. As the bathroom soap dispenser's soap is used up over time and the amount of soap slowly sinks, the inside of the dispenser is left with a coating of soap on the inside walls of the container. This soap hardens over time as the water evaporates from it. Often the nozzle of the shower soap dispenser will also have pieces of dried soap hanging from it as well. Cleaning it is not difficult, but it should be done, as needed, properly and thoroughly to ensure the long life of your shower soap dispenser for many years to come. Here are a few ways to get the job done easily.

Employ the Help of Your Dishwasher.

Instead of trying to clean the small nozzle and other pieces involved, the easiest solution to clean your bathroom soap dispenser is simply to:

Detach the dispenser from the wall

Separate the individual parts from each other

Drain any remaining liquid soap

Put all the parts into the top rack of your dishwasher

Run your dishwasher normally

Warm Water. Soak. Rinse.

Since you are washing a shower SOAP dispenser, put that built-up and dried soap to good use. Instead of fighting the hardened, evaporated soap, make it work for you and use it to your cleaning advantage.

Pour out the remaining liquid soap

Take a measuring cup full of hot water and fill the soap dispenser at least half way

Replace the cap on the container and shake

Empty out the water

Depending on how much buildup there is, you may need to repeat steps two through four

A similar option is simply to take the bathroom soap dispenser apart into all the individual pieces and place the dirty parts in a bowl of large water to let them soak. Once the water has cooled, remove the parts and air or towel dry them before putting everything back together. This is the perfect option for the dispenser that isn't too dirty or scummy.

Once the dispenser has been cleaned and has fully dried, simple reassemble the parts, refill with liquid soap, and re-mount to the wall.
