Negative Effects Of Pain Killer Abuse

Addiction refers to uncontrolled cravings towards substances and/or practices that often lead to negative results

. It's characterized by immediate satisfaction. Impulsive behavior is common among people with addiction. Most common forms of substance addiction involve drugs and alcohol. Gambling and exercise abuse are the most common behavioural addiction practices.

Substance abuse is one of the most common negative issues dealt by our community. Alcoholism is rampant all over the world with almost young adults as its victims. Another alarming type of abuse is drug addiction. Illicit selling of prescription drugs have been a great source of addiction. One of these prescription drugs is called Darvocet. The primary use of this drug is to treat mild to moderate pain. A recall of this drug has been passed in 2007 because of a discovery that it can cause arrhythmia. However, there are still some who use this medicine to treat individuals who are suffering from chronic pain and post pain associated with post surgery.

People who take Darvocet for the purpose other than for pain relief will develop addiction to this drug. The drug is considered an opiate which means that it has greater tendency to become addictive. People who use this drug feel a deep sense of happiness or self-confidence. This is what makes them attracted to the drug more because it not only dulls pain but it makes one feel confident and happy. The immediate effects usually do not last long and when it does, the exact opposite is felt by the user. The more an individual makes use of the drug, the more threatening it is for his health.

Side effects of an addiction with darvocet are manifested both in the physical and psychological aspects of a user. Yellow skin, drowsiness, skin rashes, nausea and vomiting are common visual manifestations of its side effects. Some of those that are not easily detected involve damages or injuries to vital organs in the body like the liver, brain and heart.

There is hope for any form of addiction. Rehabilitation centers are available to help addicts in the recovery. But this doesn't come without a price. What is meant here is not about the money spent for therapy but of darvocet addiction withdrawal. A sudden halt of drug use would mean extreme pain to the addict. Any form of abuse when withdrawn always has complications. It's best that when one is determined to rearrange lifestyle and improve for the better, a family or a support group is there to help in the whole treatment process.
