The quality of these sockets is better than their price suggests. Note the listed specs concerning drive sizes - these sockets use 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2 in drive wrenches.
This is exactly what I wanted. I needed a set of hex sockets for my 1/4" torque wrench to properly set the torque on my bicycle. This fits the bill perfectly. It's great that they also come in a nice box. Works like a charm!
Worked out great so far, but know this: You will need three different drive socket sizes. # 1/4" drive socket sizes - 2, 2.5, 3, 4, 5, 5.5, 6mm x Length 37mm. # 3/8" drive -7, 8, 9, 10, 12mm x 48mm L. # 1/2" drive - 14mm x 55mm L. Make sure you have them.
I bought this Metric set plus the SAE set, arrived as expected. I have only used the metric set so far, here and there for maintenance of my bicycles. Really had to lean on the 8mm with the help of a friend when taking the cranks off one of my bikes and it did the job sturdily as expected with no issues. It is very sweet to be able to use a ratchet instead of the old L shaped irons, you do the job faster and it is easier to get the right amount of torque. How did I live for so long without these?
These are not super high quality bits, but should be sufficient for most light/medium work. They sell for the right price and come in a sturdy plastic case.
Please note that there are THREE socket sizes in these 13 pieces: 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2". You'll need wrenches in these sizes to use all bits.
I used these metric sockets for my weekend car (Lexus, Honda) repair projects:
Pros:
(1) Very nice blue color & sturdy case;
(2) Well built sockets;
(3) Low cost, good enough for weekend mechanics;
Do you really need sockets that last (claim to last) a lifetime in today's Internet age?
I'm pleasantly surprised at the quality of these, the chrome is of a good standard, the size markings are nicely etched (and deep) and the tips are nicely chamfered. I use them for small engine work, so they spend most of their life attached to a cordless impact wrench, and they've stood up to the abuse I give them very well. I bought the Torx, Hex, and long Hex sets, and all are of good quality. The blow moulded cases are a pain in the ass. others seem to like them, but when you have an extensive tool kit, you can't keep everything in these cases. Put them on a socket rail, and they're perfect.
