Nessebar – the hidden gem of Bulgaria!

Nessebar the hidden gem of Bulgaria!

Nessebar the hidden gem of Bulgaria!

Ever heard of Nessebar? Or have you ever been there?

The answers are probably No to both of the above questions. The reason is simply because it is a small resort closely located to Sunny Beach (the biggest Bulgarian resort) and its very historical especially the old Nessebar town.

About the resort

Nessebar is full of character and is perfect for families or people looking after some history and great architecture that dates back hundreds of years. Nessebar is split into two parts and is situated on a small peninsula only 10 mins bus drive from Sunny Beach resort. It has an old and new town to suit everyone needs. Most visitors stay in the new town with better quality hotels and visit the old town during the day for inspiration and interesting views and experiments. While in the old town you will enjoy seeing ancient ruins, caves or cave cafs, old houses made out of wood and bricks and cobble little streets full of soveneere stands. These cobble streets will lead you to the sea front where you will enjoy great views and a nightclub on a boat!

In the new town you will find more restaurants, bars and busier beach which has its own blue flag and life guards.

There are many shops scattered around and near the sea front for those looking for toys or gifts.

The food is mainly grill but there is a variety for the fussier visitor such as pizza, pasta, doners.

When to go?

Nessebar is mainly a summer resort and the best months to visit are June to August, although the resort opens in May to September. The reason for that is June to Aug offers the wormiest weather with up to 40 degrees but on average it remains at 31 o 33 degrees.

How to get there?

Getting there is simple. There are direct flights from the UK to Bourgas Airport and a transfer from the airport to the resort. Transfer time is about 35 to 45mins. I would not advise that you travel via Varna Airport as the journey is much longer, about 2 and a half hours.

What to do while there?

Nessebar offers a lot. As mentioned above you can swim, sunbath, party, explore, relax, eat etc. There is also a water park which is great for both kids and adults.

If this wasn't enough you have Sunny Beach the busiest resort only 10 mins away and a bus rout operating till the early hours. Sunny Beach is full of nightclubs and entertainment for even the fussiest traveller so you are bound to be entertained and kept busy.

Many tourists tend to use the Nessebar beach as it is less crowded and at night time they head to Sunny Beach for some excitement and lively atmosphere. But if you are after peace and quite then you can remain within resort and still find plenty to do.

We hope you have a fantastic time while in Bulgaria and for holidays to Nessebar visit Balkan Holidays.
