Netbook Review - ASUS EEE PC 901

The Asus Eee PC 901 appeared on the Top 5 notebooks for 2009 list we came up recently. With a 8.9-inch screen, the Asus Eee PC 901 is definitely one of the smaller netbooks out there, but it makes up for it in different ways. It has a 1024 x 600 resolution and processing requirements, it is equipped with a 1.6 GHz Intel Atom processor. Moreover, it is supported by 1 GB of RAM (DDR2). It has 802.11n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth functions, three USB ports, an integrated Ethernet, a webcam and stereo speakers.

The netbook has been able to keep up with multiple tasks running concurrently, and the battery life is said to 8 hours. It can be a budget netbook, but it has many features with more expensive ones. It has 802.11n Wi-Fi-compatible mouse and gesture controls.

Set up a better version of the Eee PC 900, the Asus Eee PC 901 has a charming design. Instead of a matte coated cover, it's now shiny and we appreciate the small detail of the hinge is given a round, silver touch.

The Asus Eee PC 901 retains the keyboard of the Eee PC 900, but many are running on the trackpad. The user would not like to type on for extended periods when the keyboard is small. We recommend that before impulsively buying a netbook, the user has to test the keyboard to see if it is acceptable. The trackpad is better than most. It even left and right click buttons.

We observed that with the XP version, were launched applications quickly and easily we were able to open multiple windows without any hitches experience. The Asus Eee PC 901 does not succumb to cooperate with Skype using Microsoft applications and a media player simultaneously.

SPECS - The options (from Asus'website)

CPU - Intel Atom N270

RAM - 1 GB (DDR2)

Screen size - 8.9 inches

Operating system - Genuine Windows XP Home or GNU Linux

Battery life - 8 hours (manufacturer claim)

Graphics - Integrated GMA 950

The longer battery life and its new design permanent assets. We especially like how the trackpad responds to touch of the user.

What we like about the keyboard size, where only someone with small hands can get used to. We will not recommend it for people who would type more than one hour at a time. We also do not like the noise from the fan. We believe there must be a way for the manufacturer to reduce noise to a minimum to have been.

This netbook would be ideal as it is mainly used for activities that do not need much hands-on, such as watching videos, checking the finances, or paying bills online. If your tasks are limited to this species a good match for you.
