Netbooks Vs Tablet PCs - which is better and what one should you buy
The world of mobile computing is moving fast, so fast that it can be quite confusing to the average person who does not follow it for a living. With so many similar mobile products that have functions that do the same it can be tricky to decide which is the best one to buy. The Netbook and the Tablet PC fall under this category. Many people don't know the difference so hopefully this short guide will set you straight.
First of all you should know that the goal of both of these mini computers is the same - portability. They both allow you to connect wirelessly to the Internet. They both are designed so that you can take your working or online social life with you wherever you go. They do have their differences though, this can described by giving you an overview of what the purpose of a netbook is opposed to the reasons why you would want to buy a tablet PC.
A netbook. A netbook is a mini laptop. It has a smaller screen and a smaller keyboard and does not come with a CD or DVD drive. The keyboard is generally smaller than most laptops (although some netbooks have bigger keys for easier typing). The netbook is slimmer than a laptop making it easier to carry concealed in a rucksack or college bag. The battery life is increasing all of the time too with a range of between 6 - 10 hours being about right depending on the model on which you buy.
A Tablet PC. A tablet pc is just a screen. Although the specs and capabilities may be the same of a netbook, it has no keyboard or mousepad. All of your typing is done on the screen. Like the netbook they are slim and have a decent battery life but are no good for the type of work for example if you would need to write an essay. Sure you could plug in a keyboard but that kind of defeats the purpose of the tablet.
So the purposes are different even though they have similarities in their make up. A netbook is better for business, family use or the student required to type up a lot of essays etc. The tablet PC is more fun, more geared toward the casual user who wants a mulitmedia PC or to connect to their online social network and not really useful for typing upon. I hope this spells out some of the basic differences and similarities of these portable computers for you and have proved useful. You should now have a better understanding of what you want to buy.
