Network marketing (multi-level marketing or MLM) companies offer a great deal of hope to a new distributor who wishes to make money. The person who signs up does so with a high belief level that he or she will become successful in the business. It generally does not take much money to start this type of home based business so millions of people have ventured into the industry.
In order to become successful, a person needs to keep that high belief level in spite of the many trials and hardships which may come up in pursuing the dream of success. Network marketers will usually find little success with lots of rejection and disappointment. They are excited to share this wonderful opportunity with friends and family, but they are totally rebuffed by most.
The network marketing industry is a business model where distributors, members, consultants (or whatever they are called in a particular company) sign up and try to sign up others under them. They all get paid a percentage of the sales or volume which takes place by those who are signed under them in what is called a downline. The people who signed them up and those above them are the person's upline. Ideally, the upline helps the downline to succeed.
There is lots of money being made in network marketing, and millionaires are still created through this medium. However, there are approximately 97% of those who sign up who never make a dime and lose money instead. They become discouraged when they face the realities and then they give up. Millions of people have tried and failed at network marketing with many trying company after company in the hopes that something will eventually work. They believe in the possibilities but feel they need a different product or company.
The absolute faith and excitement they had when they first signed up must be maintained in order to find any success. The belief level in oneself and the belief that you will become successful must be high and remain high. It's not easy when failure looms and success eludes the new distributor.
The top leaders are those who believe in themselves and do not let discouragement take over to the point that they quit before they should. Sometimes a multi-level company could be dishonest or disreputable, but most seem to be started by people who made it big as distributors in the industry and who now start their own company because they know that the owners are the most likely the biggest winners along with a few successful distributors making millions. Those people would not make it without a total belief in themselves and their abilities.
