Network Marketing Sales Are What Makes a Strong MLM Business


The network marketing sales arena is a direct way to get products and services into the market place and into the hands of wanting consumers, while allowing people to run their own business and be in control of their personal financial future. However, there are some people that give network marketing (often known as multilevel marketing or direct sales) a bad name, as they make promises of making money overnight without any real work or commitment.

While surfing the internet you may come across ads saying untruths like, "I made $300,000 working from home and you can too!" or "Make six figures in your first year," The people putting these ads together are not always the best examples of how the business actually works. It is true that it is possible to make these figures and many people do make this kind of income, but for most people who join these businesses they won't even come close to earning this type of income within 5 years let alone their first year. Like any business, network marketing requires persistence, perseverance and a lot of hard work. Making claims like the above can be seen to be false and misleading and they are not doing the industry, themselves or the people they recruit any favours.

These same people will also tell you that network marketing is not sales. This is certainly a downright lie. Making sales is network marketing. When business building, you are doing it through the sales of products or services. Your business requires you to learn the art of selling, how to pitch, how to ask for the sale, decreasing closing time and increasing closing ratio. It really doesn't matter if you are marketing your products on the phone, online or in person, you are selling your product.


When you become comfortable selling your product line, you will then begin to focus on building your team. This you do by selling the financial opportunity and encouraging people to take action to join your company and it doesn't matter if you make a commission from that call to action, you are still carrying out a sales process.

This brings me back to the ad and why the recruiter didn't say you would be selling? Most recruiters tell you that you won't be selling; "the product is so good it sells itself!" which takes away all your fears because you are apprehensive about selling anything. "Sales" usually has a negative sound to it because most people don't like to be sold to. Have a think about what turns you off when shopping in a department store? No one likes a pushy sales person right? Or the scenario of the phone ringing right in the middle of dinnertime, no one wants to answer the phone because at that time of night we all know there will be a pushy sales person on the other end. Some recruiters go to great lengths not using the word "Sales" because they think that more people will join their company if they think there is no selling involved.

It really is normal to be afraid of sales, there is nothing wrong with you. Every salesperson had to start somewhere, for some it comes naturally. Most people shy away from the idea of talking to strangers, let alone asking them to hand over their hard earned cash. There is a way to overcome sales fright and that is to recognise that you are providing something they need. Whether it's your products, which they can use or your opportunity which will provide them with a way to make money either way you are offering something they will benefit from. And remember, if they say no to your offer, don't take it personally, it just means that at this time they are not interested in what you have to offer them. It's not about you!

The right training program can teach anyone to overcome their sales fears. It's important to know that no matter how you approach network marketing, your business is sales which means putting yourself out there and sometimes facing rejection. However, this also means the potential to be highly rewarded financially and in most cases the only obstacle to you being a success, is yourself.
