Never Poison A Bee Hive

With colony collapse disorder, beekeepers have been losing 30% to 40% of their colonies each year. Bees are too important to our ecosystem, especially for pollination of countless fruits, vegetables, nuts and really every type of plant imaginable. Having a bee hive show up on your property is a very healthy thing for your garden, it's just not good for your house when you have 80lbs of sugar, honey, and wax in your walls. Unless you are allergic to bees, safety is barely a concern. Bees usually choose where to build their hive in locations where they won't have to interact with humans very often.

Here is a quick list of reasons of why it is NEVER a good idea to poison a bee hive, especially one in the structure of your house.

1. Be a good member of planet earth, there are professionals who will remove the bees for near nothing and if you just ASK they will give you some of that honey usually created from plants and water sources in your own neighborhood. What could be more local than that?

2. Bees flap their wings to maintain the proper temperature and humidity, which keeps the honeycomb (which is wax) from melting and keeps the honey from fermenting. When you poison the bees you STILL have to cut out the honeycomb OR ELSE #3.

3. On the very first hot day the wax will melt and you will have a gigantic mess. Lets say the hive is in the exterior wall on the second floor of a two-story house. The wax and honey will melt and run down the inside of the wall slowly oozing down and probably getting in the first floor wall and on the structural beams, etc... Then very quickly the honey will begin fermeting and the wood will begin rotting. It gets worse...

4. About that time, every ant in town can smell what they've been missing and start making a bee-line (pardon the pun) to your house.

5. You already you know you don't need harmful chemicals sprayed in your walls, and without the job done properly by an expert bee removal professional who knows how to remove the evidence of old bees, new bees will just move back in.
