New $45 Million Airport Terminal Planned To Welcome Visitors To Antigua Holidays

Antigua and Barbuda will soon receive a brand new terminal at the VC Bird International

Airport which will also help create new jobs and boost economic growth in the region.

Scheduled to be completed by December 2012, the new $45 million terminal will accommodate passengers as they arrive to their Antigua holidays to visit the beautiful twin-island nation of Antigua and Barbuda.

The news of the terminal was announced at the World Travel Market event in London earlier this month and the country is gearing up to the opening of the new terminal as soon the island will be benefiting from a larger influx of passengers arriving to the island to enjoy fantastic holidays in Antigua and Barbuda.

The major expansion to the airport will feature 26 check-in desks, 20 immigration counters, three jet bridges, and an extensive retail outlet and food court. The terminal will cover 165,814 square feet and travellers taking Antigua holidays will be able to use complimentary facilities including Wi-Fi and Internet access.

A representative from the UK travel operator Kenwood Travel commented: When the VC Bird International Airport was originally constructed, Antigua and Barbuda proved that they were trendsetters in the Caribbean travel industry.

By expanding and modernising the airport, theyll be able to stay ahead and more easily cope with the healthy demand weve always seen for Kenwood Travel Antigua Holidays.

John Maginley, Antiguas Tourism Minister, welcomes the news of the airport expansions and said that the growing tourism industry has outgrown the existing terminal. The number of UK travellers who choose Caribbean holidays to Antigua and Barbuda increased by 11 per cent in 2011 and British Airways has announced that it will be increasing the number of flights between London Gatwick Airport and Antigua to seven a week in 2012, which means more Antigua flights for UK travellers to choose from.

Antigua is the largest of the twin-island nation of Antigua and Barbuda situated in the West Indies. The island boasts natural scenery which is typical of the Caribbean: white sand palm-fringed beaches, warm turquoise ocean waters, and lush forests and landscapes. One of the advantages to enjoying Antigua holidays is that the island is much less crowded than its neighbours so tourists can enjoy a more relaxing and tranquil tropical holiday.

The Caribbean island boasts a wide range of accommodation, from private villas and boutique luxury beachfront Antigua hotels with ocean views and tropical gardens, to small guest houses, family-friendly resorts and charming cottages.
