Defense-independent component ERA measure the pitching status using other elements of the game such as home runs allowed and innings pitched.

Defense-independent pitching statistics, on the other hand, measure a pitcher's efficiency without the factor of the fielders.

Equivalent average is for hitters. This is really complicated. Let's just say it considers everything the hitter did from hits to base steals.

Player Empirical Comparison and Optimization Test Algorithm or PECOTA predicts a player's data in the major categories based on other sabermetric data.
