New Brunswick Bed And Breakfast

New Brunswick Cottages and Hotels-An Outdoorsman's Paradise

Looking for a place to enjoy Mother Nature, then head to New Brunswick to some of the most spectacular wonders on the planet. The region is a treasure trove of the results of past, present and even ongoing geological events. From the Appalachian Mountains to the Bay of Fundy, there is something to peak the interest of nearly everyone.

First on your list should be the last remaining white sand dunes in North America. Or follow the high tides to the site of the Hopewell Rock formations. These mighty sand pillars and cliffs have been formed by the world's highest tides crashing into the land during the past several hundred or thousand years. The formations can only be viewed at low tide, when it is possible to walk on the ocean floor.

Groves of trees have taken root on the top of these formations making them look a little weird at first glance. They are constantly forming and reforming as the water crashes in and then runs out again every 12 hours or so. If the water is not your cup of tea, then go west young man where you will find the Appalachian Mountains. The Appalachians are older than the Himalayas. Up in the mountains you may stumble across the El River Bar, which is the world's longest natural sandbar in existence.

Pay attention to the birds as you trek, for there are well over 100 different species living in the area. Other wildlife also abounds in the area. Check out the heart stopping vistas to be seen from the top of Mount Carleton, the highest peak in the Maritime Provinces.

White sand dunes are almost non existent in North America. Here in New Brunswick the dunes have been in existence since the ice age. They are changed by every storm and wind that passes over them. The Irving Eco Center helps to preserve and restore the 12 mile beach. No motor vehicles or bikes or four legged animals are allowed onto the sand dunes. Walking is the only way to get around in this area. Ask your travel guide for more information.
