New Industrial Drying Process
A new industrial drying process has been developed by Gyrotron Technology Inc
. that has none of the problems of legacy technologies that use hot gas, electrical resistances, or industrial microwave and suffer from low heating rate and inefficiency. The developed process uses the Gyrotron beam which possesses unique properties and produces incredible results.
The first advantage of the Gyrotron beam is that it achieves super-fast heating and drying. The beam heating rate for water and other liquids is hundreds of degrees per second. The heating can be localized in a target area, leaving the surrounding areas cold, or multi-layer systems can be heated to different temperatures. The temperature can be controlled with a high accuracy, up to 1.5%. This, state-of-the-art process has very wide applications. For example:
Drying sheets: Existing technology moves sheets, such as sheetrock, ceiling tiles, and paper, via high-speed conveyor, but it falls short because the process suffers from non-uniform heating and thus leaves wet spots. This reduces product quality and creates many storage and shipping problems. To dry the remaining wet spots, the product must be dried again on the conveyor, significantly increasing production costs. Our new industrial drying process uses the Gyrotron to target wet spots and dry them instantly on the conveyor, thereby averting repetition of the entire drying process, saving energy and labor, and cutting waste
Drying ink and paints: Our new industrial drying process enables users to dry ink and paint at the speed at which paint is applied. This significantly increases productivity, reduces costs, and enhances quality. In some cases, paint can be dried at the moment it is sprayed on the surface. Our process eliminates the need for long drying in tunnel furnaces.
Drying porous materials: Drying porous materials has required long, expensive tunnel furnaces, because heating and evaporation of the penetrated inside moisture is affected by the movement of heat from the surface via thermal conductivity. As a result, the process has been time-consuming. The Gyrotron beam can be focused deep inside porous materials, allowing for a high heating rate as heat moves from inside to the surface, thereby obviating long furnaces.
Drying flammable liquids: Our new industrial drying process makes it possible to dry such liquids as petroleum, acetone, alcohol, and similar liquids and solvents safely. Because air is absolutely transparent for the Gyrotron beam, the beam is able to remove and evaporate flammable solvents during the drying process, thereby preventing undesirable events. Our new industrial drying process opens new possibilities for replacing water as a solvent with other liquids that require far less energy for evaporation.
Curing: The new industrial drying process makes it possible to dry solvents and cure polymers with much higher efficiency and productivity than is available via conventional means. When the Gyrotron beam is focused within the product"s boundaries, its high energy density and ability to heat rapidly results in significantly shorter drying lines for production prepregs, plastic sheets, and similar products.
