In December 2006, Korean Manufacturer Kia Motors released the Kia Pro Cee'd in the European market, replacing the Kia Cerato. The Kia Pro Cee'd was designed in Germany by Miklos Kovacs as the team leader, using the same platform as the Hyundai i30.

in the 2007at the Frankfurt Auto Show, Kia introduced the Kia Pro Cee'd, a 3-door variant of the Cee'd and began marketing the model in January 2008.The Kia Pro Cee'd is currently not available outside the European market but since August 2009, the Kia Pro C'eed was imported to Iran and South Africa.

On the top-rated UK television programme, Top Gear, the Kia Pro Cee'd was revealed as the new Reasonably Priced Car' on June 2010, presenter Jeremy Clarkson described it as "the only car with an apostrophe IN its name".

Kia Pro Cee'd received an overall 5 star out of 5 for safety in the Euro NCAP test. It is also known for being fitted with six airbags (including curtain airbags) as standard even in countries like Ukraine where safety options were usually stripped in comparison with other countries.
