New Nissan GTR
Nissan launched the UK Spec GT-R in 2009, it replaces the very successful Nissan Skyline
. In 1969 Nissan built the GT-R of the Skyline, this car turned out to be iconic for Nissan both on and off the track.
The New Nissan GT-R derives much of its heritage form the Skyline GT-R. The GT-R continues to use all wheel drive with a twin-turbo 6 cylinder engine just like its predecessors. The engine and rear-mounted dual-clutch gearbox are built by hand, hence limiting production to around 1000 cars a month.
The Nissan GT-R is powered by the VR38DETT engine, a 3,799cc (3.8 L) DOHC V6. Two parallel Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries (IHI) turbochargers provide forced induction. Production vehicles produce a manufacturer-claimed engine output of 357kW (479 bhp) at 6400rpm and 588Nm (434 ftlbf) from 32005200rpm.
According to manufacturer claims the GT-R can reach a top speed of 311km/h (193 mph), Motor Trend recorded a top speed of 195.0mph (313.8 km/h). It has been tested to achieve 0-60mph (97 km/h) times as low as 3.2seconds with "launch control" and 3.8 seconds without.
Motor Trend achieved a standing quarter-mile time of 11.6s at 120.0mph (193.1 km/h).Autocar achieved a 0-100mph (160 km/h) time of 8.5 seconds.
