Right from its inception (which was in 1998), Google has been more than just another browser

. Time and again, it has introduced various programmes and software that have created a ripple in the web world. This is, however, the first time when Google has developed aids not for the layman, but for the web developers. The end result will nevertheless help the common users.

These two new aids, released in August 2012, are known as Leak Finder and Dart. Those aware of JavaScript must be aware of the term memory leaks. Memory leak is one of the most common problems, which, though minor, does causes inconvenience to the users. For the pages where only navigation is provided, memory leak goes unnoticed. However, with interactive pages, memory management is necessary. Generally, the built-in garbage bin gets rid of things that are no more in use in the working memory or are not referred to by other objects of the programme. The garbage bin however is not unfailing. Hence, many a time, the objects that are not in use are retained. And with large JavaScript, the garbage collection tends to get slower and creates pressure on the system memory, causing few things to be cached.

Here, the new tool of Google comes to help. Leak Finder will identify the objects not in use and intimate either the developer or the automated application testing software about it.

The second offering by Google, Dart, is in actuality, a library. Developed by Google's software engineer, Sam McCall, the library provides Dart-based connectors that can used to access 30+ Google application programming interfaces (API-based) services such as Calendar by Google, Google+, web address shortener, and so on. A list of sample applications is also provided along with the software.

Web development companies will surely adopt Dart as it is claimed to be a better alternative to JavaScript, especially for writing complex web applications. Dart was written in only twenty percent of time that is generally allotted by Google for external projects.

With the introduction of these two aids, it is being speculated that Google is now supporting the use of open Web technologies. Whatever be the case, one thing is for sure. These offerings by Google will help Web hosting companies accelerate the web development process.
