New Versions Of Bmw's Most Popular Cars

, this is it "" BMW has announced new versions of four of its most popular models.

First up is the 5 Series, which is being reinvented in the form of the 520d EfficientDynamics Saloon. This comes with a more economical new diesel engine that is also pretty handy on the emissions front, producing just 119g/km "" impressive for a car in the luxury saloon class.

The 5 series BMW is available is seven different engines. The engine sizes are as follows. A 2.0 litre 170bhp, 3.0 litre 230bhp, another 3.0 litre twin turbo 300bhp, a 4.8 litre 360bhp petrol engines. There are also three diesel engines which are 2.5 litre 184bhp, 4.4litre 325bhp and the biggest engine is the 5.0 lite 500bhp V10 engine.

Fans of the Z4 have two new versions to look forward to "" the sDrive 20i and the sDrive 28i; the latter promising to take you from 0-62mph in just 5.7 seconds.

The 6 Series has had a couple of new engines and a new chassis added to its line-up, meaning that customers will be able to choose from a 407bhp 650i Coupe, a 320 bhp 640i, and a 313bhp 640d. All have a top speed of 155mph, with the diesel offering superb fuel economy figures of as much as 51.4mpg.

Capping things off is the second generation of the 1 Series, which is sure to add even more interest to an already popular member of the compact luxury sector. More than 2.2 million 1 Series have been sold across the world already, and the changes planned for the new version give BMW solid hope of continuing its reign at the top.

BMW EfficiencyDynamics technology will be fitted as standard, and the car will boast a longer wheelbase than its predecessor. Fuel economy will range from 49.6mpg for the 116i through to 62.8mpg for the diesel versions.
